The Centre leaders help the SCCs that animate the masses usually buy Bread ad Wine for the celebration of the Mass.
Sometimes, on Sundays, due to lack of enough priests, some of the centres only have the Sunday services of the word. The Religious Brothers often assist in such cases.
MASSES FOR THE CONVENT
Chiga parish has four Convents, One of the Brothers of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 2 Convents for Asumbi Sisters (built under Nyamonge Centre) and one Convent for the sisters of the Blessed Virgin (built within the parish compound):
The Sisters of the Blessed Virgin receives Mass in their Chapel once a month (the last Tuesday of every month) during which we consecrate and replace the Blessed Sacrament.
The Asumbi Sisters staying within the St Francis primary School in Nyamonge get mass every Friday together with the pupils and during the holidays, Mass is celebrated with them in the chapel.
The other convent of Asumbi Sisters staying within the St Mary Magdalene Oasis of Hope in Agonyo under Nyamonge Centre get mass every Wednesday and when schools are closed, we celebrate it inside their chapel in the convent.
Chiga parish does not have monthly joint masses since there are a number of parishioners who are aged and sick and so unable to travel that long distance to attend mass at the parish.
However, there are occasions, Feasts, Celebrations which force us to have only one mass in the whole parish. Such Occasions include celebration of Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Parish Family Day, etc.
During such masses, different centres are tasked to animate the Mass. The choir that normally leads in such Masses is St Gregory Parish Choir.
